John Ch 7- thirst

John Ch 7 v37:

On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, ‘If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink’.

‘Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water’.

When Jesus cried this out, he did not do so as a calculated legacy, knowing that he would not be on earth that much longer. It is a cry from his own heart that predated his footsteps upon this earth and is an invitation to enter heaven.

Where I am you can’t come – let him come to me!

Evidently, thirst is a critical dimension to finding him.

Yet, within this cry of Jesus, is an open invitation that is clearly impartial and open to any who hear it. The very cry, is salt, it is packed full, to induce a thirst.

Man is placed in the garden by God from the start of creation, then we have four flowing mighty rivers and then scripture affirms that man was placed in the garden. These four rivers are in between this repetition of mans placement in the garden for a purpose and that purpose incorporates man having rivers of living water coming out of his HEART!

Jesus, understood why those rivers where placed into that garden and he also ensured that it was a part and a parcel of the cannon of scripture. Therefore, this cry of Jesus is a revelation concerning Gods intended  purpose for man, since before the dawn of creation!

Now Jesus did know, that his time upon earth was short, and he also knew that it was the religious establishment who would reject him, and hence these where factors in the timing of his cry, but the cry resonated with the heart of his Father which had cried out unto Adam, ‘Where are you’.

So the cry has application unto all who hear it. As God made man in the beginning, he alone knows how he built man, and he alone knows that he made the heart of man to be an outlet of perpetual/ eternal life.

Now no man or women usually turns down the proceeds of a lottery win. One reason retail outlets promote sales and discounts & spend lots on advertising is due to the belief that people will buy into a good deal or a lifestyle product.

Now the cry of Jesus Christ during the final and great feast day is speaking to the design protocol of every cell in a human being, but especially the heart, and is offering to make it a source of life and blessing unto all. It has no charge or cost other than a faith in him who has made the promise.

That the heart can be a source of life unto all, that is good news. That a man or a women can live from the heart for the benefit of others.

Looking forward to service today. I haven’t typed up any notes this week, its been a busy week in its own rights, but have been up not to far of the normal time I tend to rise on a Sunday morning.

Service locally was really blessed and the chapter preached on from Isaiah Ch 53 really dovetailed with where I had been and with a song the Lord had placed on my heart in latter part of week. So the Lord has been faithful in ministering and encouraging me in the Spirit.

The footnote of my esv has Ezekiel Ch 47 v1 for John Ch 7 v38.

I read v1-12 from this chapter early morning.

My mind was taken back to it during the worship, ‘Oh come to the alter, the Fathers arms are open wide’.

It helped me, as I was thinking over this water being there before the foundation of the temple. In a sense this was all a part of his cry on the great day of the feast, a very different cry to wanting to stone someone.

The Pharisees whole understanding of worship and the alter had no knowledge of the original garden, but she who greeted him first from the tomb had learned about loves source, she had stood condemned before him on the floor of the temple, but perhaps his writing on the ground was divinely pressing into a source below that they had not discovered: Underneath are the everlasting arms.

After are local service we had a mini WW 3 at home, siblings!

So we really prayed, and God answered.

While singing and dancing a little at the end hymn, ‘This is something that only God could do’, I realized that it was a prophetic moment! Brother, being there, again, with us, God having answered prayer in an awesome way. But it was the worship at the start combing with the end that made it marvelous in my eyes – with a little dance to top it of.

It truly was something only God could do.

Wore a shirt for the first time that I bought from Tesco a few weeks back! Well at least its 100 % cotton and the Tiger looks alive on it. Bit of a change for me, but there you go.

I have a work related meeting this Thursday 10am in which I would appreciate prayer, that Gods Spirit would govern all.
