Hebrews Ch 12 v1-2

Hebrews Ch 12 v1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and the sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

What was the Joy that was set before him to endure the Cross.

Yes, Jesus knew a Joy in his Fathers presence before the foundations of this world. Many believe that this Joy is that Joy which enabled him to endure.

We are instructed to maintain are looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith. We are instructed to do this despite are propensity to carry weights and sin.

We are instructed that by looking to Jesus, that in doing this the weights are laid aside and the sin which clings so closely does not have any power to prevent us going forward in are race, journey and path of faith, a faith that clings closely to Jesus rather than sin/separation.

We are informed that faith, is the substance of things hoped for, that faith is the muscle in the thighs and arms that keep you in the race.

Yes, faith, faith is foundation and the finishing line.

Faith in what? Looking to Jesus.

Faith that believes that he went to a Cross as a sacrifice for the weights we carry and the sins which have closely clung to us.

Jesus Christ did not go through the endurance of the Cross, so that he might make the law the only means of salvation. He was not the first man good enough to set others an example of fulfilling the whole law in order to make the law a heavy weight unto which we must strive and strain to fulfill.

No! Jesus Christ endured the cross as he knew it was the very foundation of are faith and the perfection of are faith.

The Joy that was set before him, was a Joy that saw himself at his Fathers right hand side.

And we are informed that he is at the Fathers right had side as a faithful High Priest to make intercessions on are behalf: Himself carrying on his breast all the weights that he alone is able to transform into the jewels of that City Abraham was looking forward too.

Therefore, as we look unto Jesus and consider the Joy that was set before him to endure the Cross, we are having are faith established in the great truth of the lamb who was slain before the foundations of this world. We are as we look unto him and consider him at the Fathers right hand side, having are faith perfected, in the lamb whom the twenty four elders and four living creatures worshiped in Spirit and in Truth.

Therefore, are looking unto Jesus, is a Joy that can endure as his Joy was clearly to set us free from the weight and the sin. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God, the new covenant is a finished and sealed covenant & are endurance, are fight of faith is the good fight, that Jesus alone won the victory. That’s not a defeated faith that is married to Romans Ch 7, no rather, that is the high calling of are faith to press on into a perfecting of are faith that is willing to endure mocking and persecution, due to the bridegrooms love for his bride.

Faith works by love.

Note:

Monday morning during a prayer meeting, my mind was taken to these verses and so I ended up reading Ch11 and 12 for my daily read. Having a lateral and abstract aspect to my thought processes I thought the close of these chapters was affirming of the ministry, knowledge – that which you should know, and faith being inseparable. It is the grace of God unto all who believe.
